Welcome to the submissions page of Lamprophonic!
The mission of Lamprophonic is to encourage a robust, diverse, and supportive literary community in New York City.
Emerging Writers Series
Through this series we present and promote outstanding new voices in the New York writing community. Each month(-ish), we prepare a diverse and entertaining reading that demonstrates the quality and variety of the city's talent. In a typical reading, we hear poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, and we are open to anything that thoughtfully engages listeners.
To be considered to read, please submit a brief bio and no more than 6 pages of your own work. Prose submissions must be double-spaced, and all submissions must be twelve-point font. A writer may only submit one entry per reading period.
If you are accepted to read, the expectation is that you present the work you submitted. We make exceptions on a case-by-case basis, and only when the matter is discussed upon the author's invitation to read.
The AmpLit Fest Emerging Writers Showcase
Co-produced by Lamprophonic and Summer on the Hudson, AmpLit Fest is a free, daylong festival that brings authors of all backgrounds, styles, and levels of recognition to center stage. With readings, discussions, workshops, and a community market, AmpLit Fest makes one of life’s most solitary acts — writing — a public celebration.
At this event, we will present the works of six emerging writers from across New York City and beyond. We are open to any writing that will thoughtfully engage the audience, be it fiction, nonfiction, poetry, monologue, or something else or in between.
To be considered to read, please submit a brief bio and no more than six pages of your own work. Prose submissions must be double-spaced, and all submissions must be twelve-point font. Only one entry per writer.
If you are invited to read, you are expected to read the selection submitted to us.
